Respect for copyright

CarManuals.net publishes and organizes automotive information and may link to third-party manuals, publishers, marketplaces, manufacturers, and other resources. Third-party copyrights remain with their respective owners. CarManuals.net does not claim ownership of third-party factory manuals, trademarks, manufacturer publications, or other protected material merely because they are referenced or linked from the site.

When a sufficiently detailed copyright complaint is received, CarManuals.net may investigate the identified material and take action appropriate under the circumstances and applicable law.

Notice of claimed copyright infringement

If you believe material available on CarManuals.net infringes a copyright that you own or are authorized to enforce, a notice intended to comply with 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) should include the following:

1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or, when multiple works are covered by one notice, a representative list of those works.
3. Identification of the material claimed to be infringing or the subject of infringing activity, together with information reasonably sufficient to locate it. Providing the exact CarManuals.net URL is strongly recommended.
4. Information reasonably sufficient to contact the complaining party, such as a name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.

What may happen after a notice is received

A response to a notice does not necessarily constitute an admission that infringement occurred. Material may be removed or restricted while a dispute is evaluated.

Counter-notification

If material you provided was removed or disabled because of a copyright notice and you believe the removal resulted from mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification. A counter-notification intended to comply with 17 U.S.C. § 512(g) should include:

1. Your physical or electronic signature.
2. Identification of the material that was removed or disabled and the location where it appeared before removal or disabling.
3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
4. Your name, address, and telephone number.
5. A statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the appropriate United States Federal District Court as provided by applicable law, and a statement that you will accept service of process from the person who submitted the original infringement notice or that person's agent.

After a valid counter-notification is received, the original complaining party may be notified and further action may follow as provided by applicable law.

Repeat infringement

Where appropriate and in circumstances within its control, CarManuals.net may restrict or terminate access for users or contributors determined to be repeat infringers. The site may also remove links or content when repeated valid copyright concerns establish a pattern that warrants further action.

Misrepresentation and abusive notices

Copyright notices and counter-notifications are legal communications. Knowingly making material misrepresentations about infringement or mistaken removal can have legal consequences. Do not use the DMCA process to resolve ordinary criticism, trademark disputes, personal disagreements, pricing concerns, or matters unrelated to copyright.

Trademarks and other intellectual-property concerns

The DMCA process primarily addresses copyright. Manufacturer names, vehicle model names, product names, logos, and other trademarks referenced on CarManuals.net belong to their respective owners. A trademark or other non-copyright concern can be sent through the Contact Us page with the relevant URLs and supporting information, but it should not be falsely presented as a DMCA copyright claim.

How to submit a copyright notice

CarManuals.net accepts copyright-related communications through the Contact Us page. Clearly identify the message as a DMCA Notice or DMCA Counter-Notification and include all information required for the type of submission you are making.

If CarManuals.net maintains a designated DMCA agent registration with the U.S. Copyright Office, a claimant may also use the contact information shown in the Copyright Office's current designated-agent directory. The information in that official listing should control if it differs from general website contact information.
